Important Update on QRevive + Exciting News About Reformulation
At Quannessence, our mission is grounded in clean beauty, environmental responsibility, and full transparency. That’s why we’re sharing an important update regarding our QRevive Cleansing Cream.
Regulatory Findings
A recent third-party regulatory test detected trace levels of microplastics in a sample of QRevive Cleansing Cream. While the presence of microbeads is minimal and poses no known health risk, it falls under the restrictions outlined in Canada’s Microbeads in Toiletries Regulations (SOR/2017-111).
The ingredient in question was carefully selected based on scientific and regulatory documentation that confirmed it did not meet the criteria of a microplastic. This makes the finding particularly disappointing. However, out of an abundance of caution — and in alignment with federal guidelines and our environmental commitments — we are acting swiftly to uphold the trust you've placed in Quannessence.
Immediate Actions Taken
Under the Environmental Protection Compliance Order (EPCO) and in alignment with our brand values, we have:
- Immediately ceased distribution and sales of all QRevive formats
- Implemented a temporary product hold and quarantine process for affected inventory
- Notified distribution partners to remove and segregate all impacted items
- Launched independent testing and a full internal investigation to determine the root cause, including supplier, manufacturing, and packaging review
- Began re-formulation to produce a vegan and natural cream cleanser replacement.

For Retail Clients
No action is required from retail clients unless you are reselling QRevive. Under Canadian law, the continued sale of rinse-off products containing microplastics is restricted. If you have QRevive on hand, we recommend using a disposable cloth for removal to limit environmental impact. No product return is necessary.
For Professional Wholesale Clients
Under Canadian law, rinse-off products containing even trace microplastics are restricted. Continued sale may place sellers in non-compliance with the Microbeads in Toiletries Regulations (SOR/2017-111), which applies to anyone who manufactures, imports, or sells applicable products in Canada.
To ensure full regulatory compliance, immediately remove QRevive Cleansing Cream and any kits containing it from all sales channels, both online and in-store. Continued sale may result in non-compliance under Canadian law.
Looking Ahead
We are actively reformulating QRevive Cleansing Cream to eliminate Carbopol and ensure a fully microplastic-free, sustainable profile. We will also be taking this opportunity to remove goat milk powder from the formulation to make it vegan. While a relaunch date has not yet been confirmed, we are committed to bringing back this core product in alignment with the highest formulation standards.
In the meantime, we recommend our QRefine Cleansing Gel — a 100% natural gentle gel cleanser that offers a safe and effective alternative.
