Are your products "all natural"?

Quannessence Skincare is committed to creating products that harmonize with nature, using predominantly plant-derived ingredients. We do incorporate carefully selected synthetic or naturally synthesized ingredients to enhance safety, functionality, and the overall user experience.

How long is your shelf life and what do you preserve with?

We apply a 12-24 months expiry on our products to ensure that they perform as intended and are safe to use. To maintain shelf life and functionality, make sure to store in a cool, dry, and dark location.

Are your products Gluten Free?

We use some wheat-derived extracts in a few products, but these are so refined to alter their protein structure. Our products should not cause any issues with gluten sensitivities, but it is always best to test first. There is a lot of hype about skincare products and all the beautiful things they can do.

Are your products hypo-allergenic?

We strive to keep our products hypoallergenic. However, as they contain plant-derived extracts, some individuals may have sensitivities to specific ingredients. If you experience any reaction, please discontinue use and contact us before returning the product to the place of purchase.

Do your products contain parabens?

No we do not use parabens or formaldehyde from agents in any of our products. We try to avoid controversial or questionable preservatives and stick to those most conforming to our natural approach.

Do you use scents or fragrances in your products?

None of our facial products contain synthetic fragrances or added scents. However, some have natural aromas from their ingredients or essential oils. Certain body products do contain fragrance oils.

Are your products tested on animals?

We do not test our products on animals or knowingly include ingredients that were tested on animals. We attempt to find out as much as possible about our ingredients to ensure they conform with our philosophies of safety, environmental protection and moral responsibility.

Do you use any animal sourced ingredients in your products?

The majority of our products are free from animal-derived ingredients, with a few exceptions. QRevive Cleansing Cream contains goat milk powder, chosen for its exceptional cleansing and conditioning benefits for the skin. Additionally, our professional-use products, QBalm include beeswax and QLuna contains honey.

I've heard that there is quite a bit of research on the potential effects of all these unnecessary chemicals and additives in beauty products. Where can I find more information?

The internet is a valuable tool for researching skincare ingredients, but it’s important to assess the credibility of your sources. Many websites present information that is biased toward a specific product line or influenced by personal opinions. In the world of skincare, nearly every ingredient has its detractors, some of whom exaggerate potential risks.

Two recommended resources for ingredient safety information are the Environmental Working Group (EWG) Skin Deep Database and the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Panel. However, it's important to note that while both organizations provide ingredient safety assessments, they differ in their methodologies.

  • EWG Skin Deep Database compiles ingredient hazard ratings based on publicly available research, but its approach has been criticized for sometimes overstating risks due to a lack of context regarding real-world exposure levels.
  • Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) is an independent panel of scientists and dermatologists that evaluates ingredient safety using peer-reviewed research. Its findings are often referenced by regulatory bodies and the cosmetics industry.

For a well-rounded understanding, it's best to consult multiple sources, including regulatory agencies such as the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) and the European Commission’s Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS).

If these ingredients and chemicals are harmful, why do the large cosmetic companies use them?

The obvious answer is the cost and reproducibility. Large companies demand low production costs and a consistent product from batch to batch. When using plant extracts, it is possible to get many variations of a product (different colour, thickness, odour, feel) and generally, these extracts can be pretty expensive. Sometimes product safety is less of a concern than these other factors.

Can I get a list of ingredients in your products?

All of the aesthetics operations carrying our line have product information sheets that highlight the ingredients and the critical actives used in each product. If you cannot get one there, please email us, and we will be happy to forward a copy.

How do you know that yours actually work?

All our products are developed from the ground up. Our lab is attached to an aesthetics operation (Mystical Touch) where the concepts are cultivated. The final version of our product is the culmination of numerous iterations where the prototype goes back and forth between the lab and aesthetics studio until something fantastic is developed. We also rely on feedback and ideas from Facebook and our clients.

How do I find out which products are right for me?

In order to determine which products are best for you, it would be beneficial to speak with your Quannessence Skincare specialist. They can assist with evaluating your skincare needs and make appropriate recommendations for a homecare regimen, or in-office treatment. The combination of the two can provide sensational results!

Are Quannessence Products Pregnancy Safe?

We understand the importance of making informed choices, especially regarding skincare during pregnancy. We recommend clients to conduct their own research, to speak with their obstetrician or dermatologist, and make an informed decision they are comfortable with when using our products. Below, we’ve outlined important considerations to help you make a comfortable and informed decision.

Salicylic Acid and Alpha Hydroxy Acids
Our products that contain salicylic acid include:

  • QBreakout Balancing Lotion (0.97%)
  • QClear Salicylic Purifying Foam (2%)
  • QRemedy Clarifying Complex (1.9%)
  • QNourish Vitamin Lotion (1%)

These products contain low concentrations of salicylic acid, which minimizes risk, yet we recommend discussing their use with your obstetrician or dermatologist. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists states that topical salicylic acid is generally safe when used briefly and in limited areas. Still, your healthcare provider is the best source for personalized advice.

Essential Oils
Due to the absence of extensive studies on essential oil safety during pregnancy, we recommend consulting with your doctor. Essential oils are used in the following products at very low concentrations, reducing potential risks:

  • QRevive Cleansing Cream (Lime, Geranium)
  • QSage Peel Gel (Sage)
  • QMist (Grapefruit, Bergamot, Lavender, Lime)
  • QRemedy Clarifying Complex (Tea Tree)
  • QBreakout Balancing Lotion (Frankincense, Rosewood, Blue Tansy, Black Spruce)
  • QNourish Vitamin Lotion (Black Spruce)
  • QGaia Facial Enrichment Oil (Lavender, Rose Geranium, Frankincense, Tea Tree)
  • Citrus Breeze Body QLotion and QScrub (Grapefruit, Mandarin Orange, Peppermint)
  • QThera Remedy Lotion and Scrub (Peppermint, Sage, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Tea Tree)

Vitamin A (Retinoids)
We recommend avoiding QVitamins Nourishing Complex and QNourish Vitamin Lotion during pregnancy as they contain a very small amount of Vitamin A (0.2%), which some doctors suggest avoiding in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Although the amount absorbed through topical application is minimal, it’s best to consult with your doctor for clarity.

Do you ship overseas?

Yes, we ship across Canada & the US. Shipping costs will apply and will be added at checkout. We run discounts and promotions all year, so stay tuned for exclusive deals.

How long will it take to get my order?

Orders are processed within 24h on business days, and it depends on where you are located for arrival.

What shipping carriers do you use?

We use all major carriers and local courier partners, but mainly Canada Post, and all your parcel have a tracking #.

Can I return my product purchased online?

We always aim for make sure our customers love our products, but if you do need to return an order, we’re happy to help. Just email us directly and we’ll take you through the process.

Can I return my product purchased via distributors/spa?

Quannessence utilizes the following guidelines for all product returns (excludes discontinued products and packaging.

We do not give cash refunds. Applicable credit to the account will be issued to Distributors and applied to your next order.

Items returned within 30 days, in resalable condition (no price labels, damaged packaging, subject to inspection by Quannessence Management, etc.) and accompanied with proof of return authorization from the Owner of Quannessence Skincare. Items returned after 30 days, in resalable condition and accompanied by completed assignment will be restocked, and a minimum 20% restocking fee will be charged. Items are not returnable after three months. Non-re-salable items (age, damage, discontinued, etc.) will be non-refundable. Please get in touch with your Distributor Sales Consultant to arrange for a product return. Returns are shipped to BioSpa Quann Cosmeceuticals Inc., and the products must be packaged appropriately as the damage is the Client's responsibility. Promotional skincare is a final sale and thus non-refundable.

If you wish to return items to Quannessence, you are responsible for paying the freight charges on all returned items. If the Client ships a return "freight-collect," the freight charges will be deducted from your credit.
